From the luminous, living world of plants, I moved toward something stiller: the
mineral kingdom, and in particular the coloured earths that surround me. This is a
process of transmutation. It begins in the apparent rigidity of clay and ends in colour.
To observe, to touch, to choose, to sift — each step allows the earth to shed its
weight, to grow lighter, until it sparks the painted gesture. And so it vibrates,
breathes, becomes inner landscape — and alchemically, it smooths and illuminates
my own roughness. Everything flows.
